Air source heat pumps (ASHP’s) are designed to absorb low grade heat from the outside air. Like a reverse refrigerator, it absorbs heat from the air outside, even in cold weather, and uses electricity to concentrate that heat. The pump then transfers the heat into your home to warm it up. In summer, it can work in reverse to cool your home by moving heat out. It’s an efficient way to heat or cool your home because it uses existing heat from the air rather than generating it.
